Valley Clothing Drive Helps Job Seekers Dress for Success

Dress for Success: Salvation Army Needs Your Work Clothes

If your closet is still holding onto a blazer from the Obama administration or a pair of dress slacks that haven't seen daylight since the last in-person interview, this is your sign. The Salvation Army's Phoenix Echelon chapter is hosting its third annual Professional Clothing Drive on March 16 at Biltmore Fashion Park, and your gently worn workwear could be the confidence boost someone else desperately needs.

The drive-through event runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the familiar stretch of E. Camelback Road, right outside Biltmore Fashion Park. Pull up, drop off, and drive away knowing you did something genuinely good before lunch.

Organizers are collecting new or gently used professional clothing in all sizes, including shoes and accessories. The donated items go directly to support clients at the Salvation Army Phoenix Family Emergency Shelter and the Phoenix Adult Rehabilitation Center, helping individuals prepare for job interviews and re-enter the workforce with confidence.

The event is driven by the Echelon chapter, the Salvation Army's young professionals arm. The idea took root after Echelon members toured the Emergency Family Shelter and kept hearing the same thing: professional clothing is one of the biggest gaps for people trying to stabilize their lives. The first drive in 2024 drew roughly 115 cars. The fact that they are now in their third year says a lot about how the Valley has shown up.

Volunteers are welcome and needed. Teens 15 and older can participate with a parent or guardian. A warehouse shift is also available at 2707 E. Van Buren Street for those who want to help sort and organize donations.
